LIVING ON WATER
During the summer of 2020 in the height of the pandemic I used to do my daily allowed exercise along the Regents Canal and the River Lea in East London.
I noticed how many people lived on house boats and how individual and interesting each one was. I decided to start photographing them, I initially wanted to photograph the residents but I felt uncomfortable asking given everyone was on high alert from catching covid. So I went ahead and just photographed the interesting details that I saw.
The nomadic lifestyle and community they seemed to have appealed to me although I’m not sure the reality would suit me. I hope to continue with this project in the future but next time photographing the people that live on them.
